Giesen Unveils Updates to Roast Profiling Software and Subscriptions
Dutch coffee roasting equipment maker Giesen launched the Giesen Profiler 2.1, a major update to its built-in roast profiling software that was first revamped in February. New updates also include changes to the MyGiesen platform and a refined subscription model.

Canadian Franchisee of Aromas Espresso Wins $7.1 Million After Procedural Dispute
A Canadian court has revived a CA$10 million (US$7.1 million) award for the Canadian franchisee of Isreal-born chain Aroma Espresso Bar. The original award judgement came in 2022, but was disputed on procedural grounds related to the arbitrator’s role.
I’m Not a Barista and Timemore Launch Global Coffee Alliance for Good (GCAG)
The nonprofit I’m Not a Barista and equipment maker Timemore have partnered up for a new charitable organization called the Global Coffee Alliance for Good (GCAG), an extension of I’m Not a Barista’s Charity Coffee Wristband Program. A pilot program planned for GCAG is designed to aid coffee communities in Colombia.
13 New Graduates from the Well Grounded Training Program
The UK and Ireland-based social enterprise Well Grounded recently graduated more than a dozen people from its coffee training program, backed by Danone. With coffee industry partners, Well Grounded provides coffee skills training to unemployed individuals.
New Starbucks Chief Sustainability Officer Comes from Mars
Former sustainability head at Mars Petcare and other corporate entities, Marika McCauley Sine, was tapped by Starbucks as Chief Sustainability Officer. She replaces Michael Kobori, who had a planned retirement.
Large European Coffee Companies Respond to EUDR Delay
The consortium of large European coffee companies known as International Coffee Partners (ICP) issued a statement applauding the European Commission for delaying implementation of new deforestation-free laws (EUDR) by a year, while urging increased collaboration over the next year.
World Coffee Portal Releases Annual MENA Coffee Shop Report
Allegra’s World Coffee Portal launched its annual coffee shop market report for the Middle East and North America (MENA) region, showing overall growth of 11.2% to 11,163 outlets.
Braun’s MultiServe Plus Gets SCA Home Brewer Certification
The MultiServe Plus Coffee Maker with Cold Brew from coffee equipment maker Braun has achieved Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certification through the SCA Certified Home Brewer program.
Small Bakery Buys Pettaway Coffee in Little Rock
The owners of a Little Rock, Arkansas, bakery called Daisy Pastry Shoppe are acquiring the specialty coffee shop Pettaway Coffee, according to an Arkansas Times report. The coffee business launched last year in the Pettaway Square development. Financial terms were not disclosed.
